How Your Body Knows When It’s Safe
Inside you runs the autonomic nervous system (ANS) — the body’s automatic control center.
It has two branches:
- The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) — your fight-or-flight mode.
- The parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) — your rest-and-digest mode.
The SNS gets you through emergencies. The PNS is what lets you recover, recharge, and feel safe again.
The main highway of the PNS is your Vagus Nerve — your body’s built-in calm signal.
